Fred Elias Beer Time 1933 – 2025

Fred Elias Beer Time (Eliyahu Bear ben Shaul), beloved husband, father, grandfather, patriarch, accomplished attorney, avid cyclist, veteran of the US Army, Holocaust survivor and dear friend, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Dallas, Texas. His legacy lives on through his devoted family and the many lives he touched, both professionally and personally, throughout his long and fulfilling life.

Fred was born in St Louis, France on May 30, 1933, and immigrated to the US via Ellis Island as a six-year-old boy. His family settled in Dallas, and he started 1st grade, being fluent in four languages, but had to learn English on his own. Fred loved baseball, basketball and boxing. He was very proud of his athletic career, having been on the high school basketball team, the Southwestern AAU boxing champion, the Southwest Yo Yo champion, YMCA doubles handball champion, a 20-time all-star at the Jewish Community Center and played 2nd base on a championship baseball team in the US Army.

Fred received his Law Degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and went on to become one of the few civil rights attorneys in the 60s and 70s who won lawsuits against discrimination. He was also a nationally acclaimed defense attorney.

Fred often said he was blessed to have June as his wife, friend, critic and the love of his life. In this he found happiness and laughter, soul-searching and friendship on an everyday basis.

Fred was extremely proud of each of his children, who were a source of strength when he needed it. His grandchildren called him Tahti, Tahtilla or Ehaw; and brought him tremendous joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sabina “Sol” (Bertha) Time; his brother Maurice Time; his sisters Sonja (Joe) Siegle and Carmen (Eugene) Grozinger.
Fred is survived by his wife, June; his children: Robin (Howard) Time Beckerman, Brenda (Yair Brama) Time, Ralph (Anita) Time, Traci (Greg) Anderson and Scott Roberts; his grandchildren: Stefani Beckerman, Tori Time Beckerman, Arielle Time Burstein (Asher); Sofia (James) Cook, Audrey (Katherine) Silver, Lena Anderson, Raphe Time Burstein, Zev Time Burstein and Benjamin Anderson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
